The YOU CAN COUNT ON CEREALS booklet, published in 1948 by General Foods, promotes the nutritional and economic value of Post's Cereals while providing homemakers with suggested breakfast options and "tricks" using cereals. It also educates consumers on the grains used and production methods of their popular cereals such as Toasties, Bran Flakes, Raisin Bran, and Grape-Nuts.

Additionally, the booklet contains a selection of recipes that utilize cereal as a key ingredient, including Breakfast Muffins, Caramel Balls, Fish Batter, and Salted Peanut Cookies. The 24-page booklet is accompanied by black and white photographs and is sized at 8 ¼” x 5 ½”. The cover's top left corner bears the initials JM.

The booklet is a great example of mid-century American retail advertising when store, food products, and new appliance promotions included branded cookbooks, recipe pamphlets and booklets as give-aways.

We ask that when making your purchasing decision that you consider the photos as part of the item's description.

We do our best to provide you within the written description as much information, whether it’s the history, manufacturer, or condition, for each item we sell.

We also recognize that a “picture is worth a thousand words” and ask that you view the photos we provide closely. Often, a photo can be more effective than a written description when determining if an item will meet your needs and satisfaction.

If you need additional information on this or any item, please do not hesitate to reach out.
