Our Story
THE TOWNHOUSE ANTIQUES & VINTAGE is a seller of antiques and vintage items. Rhonda and Ed Huber decided to start the business after Ed left a long career in regional retail management.
Ed grew up in the antiques trade. His parents were avid collectors of early American antiques and primitives and his grandmother, Jane Murphy, was a well-known antique dealer in Greater Cincinnati for more than 75 years. Grandma Murphy opened her first brick-and-mortar antique store, The Townhouse Antiques in the early 1940s; this business is named in tribute of her and that first store.

Grandma Murphy was the original "American Picker." Ed remembers driving her to farm auctions and while on the way, Grandma would ask him to stop the car so she could knock on the door of some farmhouse and ask the owner if they had "any old dolls." She usually ended up in someone's attic discovering some wonderful forgotten treasures and an owner more than happy to sell.
While Ed's was immersed in the antiques trade from both the buyer and seller side from a young age, Rhonda also grew up with antiques. Her father spent 22 years in the United States Air Force and the family lived abroad in Europe and the United Kingdom. Weekends were spent either sightseeing a historical site or castle, or rummaging through antique stores in the local villages. Her parents' home was beautifully decorated with European furnishings, French clocks, original art, and Staffordshire china.
Rhonda and Ed favorite finds include pottery, ironstone, glass candy containers, political items, early American primitives, vintage clothing and fabrics, old religious items, and garden and architectural items.
When items have "seen their day", often Ed will reclaim by creating a beautiful piece with new use.
