Clement Clark Moore's renowned poem TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS was adapted into music by Ken Darby and arranged by Harry Simone. Shawnee Press printed the 16-page sheet music in 1942, and the same year, Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians recorded the song to become #23 on the Billboard charts through Decca Records. Established in 1939, Shawnee Press was launched by Fred Waring to primarily promote the arrangements of his renowned singing group.
Christmas admirers will adore the red and green image on the cover showcasing Christmas stockings hung near the fireplace and Santa's reindeer soaring past the window. This classic copy is in top condition, clear of any notes or signature. As is usually seen in vintage sheet music of this period, some slight separation is visible along the fold edges of the cover's top and bottom.
