Rare INDIANAPOLIS CAPITALS Hockey Preview Program from the 1940-41 season. The Indianapolis Capitals were an American Hockey professional ice hockey team based in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1939 to 1952.
Several players are highlighted in the program with photographs and stats including Buck Jones, Lester "King" Tooke, Les Douglas and Hec Kilrea. There is also a full-page featuring Coach Herbie Lewis with his photograph and several satire comics about the coach by Allen Lynn.
Full and partial page advertisements from popular businesses at the time (e.g. Hotel Severin, Phoenix Coffee, Raleigh Cigarettes, Hotel Lincoln Mirabar, Kessler's Whiskey, Old Forester) fill the program along with facts about the team's arena, The Coliseum, professional hockey rules and Allen Lynn comics.
The 26-page red colored paper-cover program measures approximately 10 ⅛ high by 7" wide. The program is in great vintage condition other than the cover being pulled from the top staple and a small ½” long tear at the binding top. (see photo).
