POLITICAL AND SOCIAL GROWTH of the United States 1492-1852 is the first volume of a two-volume set that provides a comprehensive overview of America's political history. Written and compiled by Homer Carey Hockett, a renowned professor of history from Ohio State University, the book delves into the country's major political events, ideas, movements, and government roles from its early days until 1852. Hockett released the revised edition of the original 1925 book in 1933. This copy is from the January 1936 printing.

The book is in good condition, possibly having been used as a textbook or study guide. It contains underlining and annotations from a previous owner, highlighting important points. The blue cover cloth features a gilt emblem of the Mayflower on the front, as well as gilt text on the spine. There is a slight stain on the blue cover, most likely caused by a wet dish. The binding is secure.
