Featuring a RIMMED SOUP BOWL by MASON'S IRONSTONE in the discontinued ARBOR pattern.

The rim of the creamy white bowl is encircled with a pattern of red, purple, yellow and blue flowers and red and green leaves. The rim is trimmed in red in the same red that decorates the walls of the bowl.

The back of the bowl is marked MASON'S PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA above the pattern name, ARBOR and the word ENGLAND. The crown does not have an angular shape and the top is rounder than earlier marks. In addition to the trademarks, the bowl is hand stamped with the pattern number, C4691. Based on the shape of the crown, the bowl is most likely early 20th century.

The bowl measures 9" across including the 1 ⅜” rim and is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks but they do have some light crazing. Please examine the photos carefully.

NOTE:  Although the some of the photos show three bowls, the bowls are sold individually.  However, three bowls are available.  The backs of each bowl are shown.  If there is a bowl preferred and your choice is still available, please let us know at checkout.

Mason's Patent Ironstone China: Mason's ironstone was made by the English Pottery of Charles James Mason after 1813, when he was given the patent for this improved earthenware. It has been said he named the new earthenware ironstone because it was as hard as iron.  The heavy-duty china quickly became a staple for numerous factories across England.
