Ruth Evelyn Reeves, better known by her stage name Ruth Lyons, wrote the words and music of LET'S LIGHT THE CHRISTMAS TREE in 1943. Lyons, born in 1905, was a well-known radio and television broadcaster in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Lyons is credited with inventing the daytime television talk show, and is remembered for her substantial impact on the TV industry akin to that of Arthur Godfrey. David Letterman and Phil Donahue both attribute much of their success to Ruth Lyon's The 50/50 Club, a show which Letterman watched with his mother as a child.
This copy of the sheet music published by Broadcast Music of New York in 1946 and is in excellent condition. Its red and green illustration of a Christmas tree silhouette with a cozy fireplace and wreath in the middle makes it an ideal choice for holiday collectors. The piece is enclosed in a protective sleeve for archival purposes.
