THE LEARN TO BAKE...YOU'LL LOVE IT is a recipe booklet published by General Foods Corporation in 1947 as a way to promote Calumet Baking Powder, Swan's Cake Flour and Baker's Chocolate. It is another great example of mid-century American retail advertising when store, food products, and new appliance promotions included branded cookbooks, recipe pamphlets and booklets as give-aways.
The 82-page softcover book is filled with over 135 tested recipes for cakes, frostings, biscuits, muffins, breads, cookies, and desserts, which are highlighted with color and black/white photographs. The book's format is designed as twelve complete basic lessons that can be followed in any order. There are sections on baking fundamentals, baking standards, and weights and measurement tables.
It measures 8 ½” high by 5 ½” wide. It is in good condition other than some staining on the front and on a few pages. It appears to be unused.
Would be fun framed and hung in a retro kitchen.
