This is a sweet reproduction of a "BRIDE'S BOX" made from a large hat box.  German custom provided that a new bride was given a "bride's box" in which to keep pieces of jewelry, personal items, documents, pressed flowers and other precious mementos from the day.  Often, they were later used to preserve hats and baptismal clothing or even sewing supplies.

This slightly oval shaped hat box is covered with vintage wallpaper featuring lambs and a Colonial girl sitting in the garden.  The wallpaper is set in tones of mustard yellow, light oranges and browns.  The inside and the bottom of the box are papered with pages from the Maine Antique Digest, September 1977, as is the inside of the lid.

The box measures about 10" high by 15" in length by 13" wide and is in very good condition. Would make a nice addition to someone's antique decor, especially in a bedroom or sitting room.
