DOROTHY'S TRAVELS is a 1908 novel by Evelyn Raymond, written for young readers. The story centers on a girl named Dorothy who, along with her friends and teacher, embarks on a summer journey down the Hudson River. Throughout their travels, Dorothy faces challenges that lead to personal growth and emotional connections with her companions.

Initially, Evelyn Raymond wrote the Dorothy stories as part of the Dorothy Chester Series for Stratemeyer Syndicate, a company that specialized in children's book series, including Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Tom Swift, and the Bobbsey Twins. However, when Stratemeyer lost its contract with its main publisher, Chatterton-Peck, Raymond continued the series with Chatteron-Peck who renamed the series to simply "The Dorothy Books"

Little is known about Raymond's life, education, and influences. However, her narratives, like those of other female authors of her time, played a significant role in shaping women's literature and reflecting the social dynamics of the era.

This 1908 first edition, published by A.L. Burt Company, is in very good condition. The vibrant and nostalgic appeal of vintage books in home decor is currently a highly sought-after trend, making this book's bright illustrated cover a perfect addition.
