THE ETUDE Music Magazine, published by Theodore Presser Publishers from 1883 to 1957, was an essential resource for music educators nationwide. Its content included insightful articles on music history, updates on the latest developments in the industry, and useful teaching methods. In addition, it featured sheet music ranging from classic pieces to new compositions suitable for students of all levels.

Originally designed for piano teachers, THE ETUDE has evolved to cover a diverse range of topics and genres for both vocal and instrumental enthusiasts. Beyond its significance to musicians, the magazine offers a glimpse into the broader cultural landscape, exploring the effects of advancements like the automobile, radio, and television, and delving into world music and the impact of global conflicts on the arts.

The reader will find in this edition, edited by Dr. James Francis Cooke, 18 pieces of music, including those of Johann Strauss and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, as well as multiple articles focused on music. Some of the articles include "Black Key Role Playing Prior to Sight Reading", "Can the Abnormal Child Be Brought Back to Normalcy Through Music?", "Enlisting Music for Men in Service", "Becoming a Conductor", and "Four Advertising Approaches for the Teacher".

The interior pages of the 13 ¼” x 10 ½” magazine show some browning, but are otherwise clean. There are some dog-eared corners, but overall magazine is in very good condition.
