Antique GRANITE WARE SMALL BUCKET Mottled Gray with Wire Bail Handle 4-Inch Tall
Really sweet antique GRANITE WARE BUCKET in mottled gray. Small granite ware buckets are hard to find and this one stands only 4" tall by 4 ¼” wide! It will hold about 3 cups of liquid.
The Collector's Encyclopedia of Granite Ware by Helen Greguire shows a similar piece on page 319.
The bucket is seamed and has a wire bail handle. The condition of the bucket is nearly perfect other than small areas of rust on the rims and edges. Please review the photos carefully.
The piece would be a great addition to someone's French country or farmhouse style decorating!

Enamel & Granite Ware
Enamel ware is made from an old process of coating metal with porcelain, which became popular in the 1800s. By the late 1870s, a new form of enamel ware was developed, called "granite ware."
Granite ware was designed with decorative patterns resembling granite, ranging from mottled, speckled, spatters or swirls. Early granite ware included patterns in turquoise blue with white and green. Both enamel and granite ware were used in the production of early kitchen utility ware.
