HANDLED 12-OUNCE CUP in Blue and White Swirl
HANDLED 12-OUNCE CUP in Blue and White Swirl
Low stock: 1 left
Antique GRANITEWARE CUP enameled with a blue and white swirl design. The cup measures just under 3" high with a 3 ¼” diameter. It is not seamed and the handle appears to be welded to the cup prior to the enameling process. The cup holds about twelve ounces of liquid.
The piece is in great condition for vintage granite ware with only a few chips of missing enamel on the bottom edge. Please review the photos carefully as they have been taken from several angles. Would be a great addition to someone's French country or farmhouse style decorating, filled with votive candle or holding a bouquet of small flowers.
Enamel & Granite Ware
Enamelware is made from an old process of coating metal with porcelain, which became popular in the 1800s. By the late 1870s, a new form of enamel ware was developed, called "granite ware."
Graniteware was designed with decorative patterns resembling granite, ranging from mottled, speckled, spatters or swirls. Early granite ware included patterns in turquoise blue with white and green. Both enamel and granite ware were used in the production of early kitchen utility ware.
