Crafted with precision, the 10 ¾" diameter DINNER PLATE in the 1876 Cape Cod Collection by Avon is reminiscent of traditional Sandwich Glass with its lacy, intricate designs, fine stippling, and brilliant shine. The plate shows no chips, cracks, or repairs and is stamped Avon on the bottom.
Its deep ruby red hue adds a classic touch to winter holidays and Valentine's Day décor, and its timeless beauty brings a touch of elegance to any summertime gathering.
Sandwich Glass and the Avon 1876 Cape Cod Collection: Avon's 1876 Cape Cod Collection was inspired by the classic Roman Rosette pattern. The collection, named for the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial and the birthplace of Sandwich glass, achieved immense popularity before being discontinued by Avon in 1993. The intricate designs of Sandwich glass were first produced by the renowned Boston & Sandwich Glass Works founded on Cape Cod in 1825, and its popularity resulted in the term becoming generic for pressed glass.
