CORNUCOPIA, A Collection of Recipes is a regional cookbook of favorite recipes from the members of Winton Forest Church located in Forest Park, Ohio, a joint ministry congregation church of Episcopal Church and the United Church of Christ members.

The cookbook is filled with recipes that range from Chicken Chalupa, Aloha Sauce for Melon, Empress House Chili (a version of Cincinnati chili), Seven-Layer Salad, Peanut Butter Chiffon Pie, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Goof-Proof Pie Crust, Pretzel Salad, and more. The name of the person who submitted is printed below its recipe.

It is a great example of a "community cookbook,' which were often published for women by women. These cookbooks provide unexpected insights into aspects of American culture and public history at a given time in history.  They give the reader a snapshot of historical details not documented elsewhere and have become unofficial records of the past.  For some cookbook collectors and culinary scholars, their historical value far outweighs the recipes inside.

Most community cookbooks were charity or community fundraisers. This book was created as a fundraiser by the women's committee of Winton Forest Church.

The 80+page comb-bound cookbook is in good condition for its age with no tears.  There is some browning and staining, especially on the back cover. It measures 8 ½” high by 5 ½” wide without the plastic comb.

Thank you for visiting THE TOWNHOUSE ANTIQUES & VINTAGE

We strive to provide you the best in antique, collectibles and vintage items and do our best to provide you within the written description as much information, whether it’s the history, manufacturer or condition, for each item we sell.

However, we also recognize that a “picture is worth a thousand words” and ask that you view the photos we provide as well. Often, a photo can be more effective than a written description when determining if an item will meet your needs and satisfaction.
