Metal Lithographed CALUMET Baking Powder Tin Circa 1960s
Low stock: 1 left
Original metal lithographed CALUMET BAKING POWDER TIN. Based on the General Foods Kitchen logo on the back, the tin is circa 1960s.
The front of the tin features the company's trademark, an Indian wearing a war bonnet, while the back provides steps to receive the company's popular, The Calumet Treasury of Home Baking recipe book by sending 15 cents and proof of purchase.
The tin measures approximately 5 ¼” high by 2 ⅞” round and originally held 14 ounces of baking powder. We have not attempted to open the tin but there may be some baking powder still inside as it "rattles" when shook. The tin shows its wear but would look great in "shabby chic" or vintage kitchen decor, or for someone who collects old food tins.
The Calumet Baking Book ©1931 is available in an another listing.
About Calumet Baking Powder: In 1889, CALUMET double-acting baking powder was created by Chicago salesman William Wright. The name comes from Calumet City and the Indian peace pipe, which was chosen as the trademark. Today, CALUMET is owned by Phillip Morris Companies, Inc., who acquired it through General Foods in 1985.
