History Highlights:

This 1963 Double Springs decanter pays tribute to some of the most celebrated Derby champions:

  • Pensive (1944) – Began a rare Derby-winning sire line, producing Ponder (1949), who later sired Needles (1956).
  • Johnstown (1939) – Dominated the field with an eight-length victory.
  • Shut Out (1942) – More than a Derby win but a symbol of resilience during the deep times of World War II.
  • Ponder (1949) – Continued the Pensive bloodline of Derby winners.
  • Swaps (1955) – The “California Comet,” Horse of the Year and record-setter.
  • Chateaugay (1963) – Winner of the Derby and Belmont Stakes, crowned Champion 3-Year-Old Colt.

These horses represent the spirit, surprises, and legends of the Kentucky Derby, giving this bottle both historical and decorative appeal.

💡 Pair it with:  Kentucky Derby souvenir glasses from the 1960s--or better yet, from 1963, Libbey Jockey Club glasses, or other racing-themed barware. A perfect decorator piece for a Derby party or to display in a home bar.
