This round TIN-LITHOGRAPH RATCHET-STYLE NEW YEARS EVE NOISEMAKER from the late 1940s to 1950s depicts a couple, a man dressed in a top hat and tailcoat and a woman in cha-cha costume, dancing. The light-colored background is filled with red and blue balloons and ribbon streamers. Sides and back are orange and the ratchet handle is made of green plastic.
The TIN-LITHOGRAPH RATCHET-STYLE NEW YEARS EVE NOISEMAKER was made by the U.S. Metal Toy Manufacturing Company of Brooklyn, New York; the lithograph includes the company mark. U.S. Metal Toy Manufacturing made tin-lithographed toys from 1946 through the 1980s. Their slogan was, "Joys With U.S. Toys."
The noisemaker measures is 3 ½" in diameter. Depth is a little over ½" wide without the plastic handle and 2" with the plastic handle. Ratchet and sound still work great. The noisemakers does show use.
Nice addition to someone's vintage toy collection as well as a great noisemaker for a vintage New Year's Eve or birthday party!
