THE WOMAN with Woman's Digest was an American literature journal or magazine published in the mid 20th century by the Farrell Publishing Corporation of Chicago and a must have for vintage magazine collectors.

This issue of THE WOMAN, Woman's Digest Magazine ©October 1947, features a comprehensive selection of articles tailored specifically for the modern woman. Among them is "The Case Against American Fathers," a compelling rebuttal to Philip Wylie's book "Generation of Vipers" in which he harshly criticizes motherhood. In his book, Wylie portrayed mothers as menopausal Cinderellas who chain-smoked, lacked sex appeal, consumed excessive amounts of bonbons - and lastly, painting them as alcoholics.

Other articles include "Cats Are Characters," "The Case for the Woman Doctor" and "How to Live with the In-Laws," as well as a sections on cooking, fashion, and shopping. A journal subscription sold for $3 annually.

The journal's pages may bear the expected results of age but is very good condition overall.
