This Staffordshire Pottery P BINCE FIGURINE showcases a French military officer seated astride a zebra, potentially representing a soldier from the Crimean War.
The decoration and hand painting are expertly executed, with bright colors and gold gilt accents. The soldier is depicted wearing a cobalt blue jacket and the base has a small hole, indicating it was slip-cast or press-molded.
The figure stands at approximately 8 ¼” high and features minimal paint on the back, as typical for Staffordshire figures. Heel is titled P BINCE, which may have been the name of the military officer. Very good condition other than light painting missing from the soldier's boot.
