Set of two (2) beautiful china plates by ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND from the 1920s in a difficult to find pattern.

The edge of the plate is decorated with fruit--strawberries, cherries and peaches (or apples) and the outside rim trimmed in a deep green. An orange circle is painted in the middle of the plate. The shape is a dodecagon--12 sided.

The backstamp dates to 1901 to 1922, when the company introduced a new Doulton mark with the lion, crown and intersecting "D" motif.  The new mark celebrated the Royal Warrant given to Doulton by King Edward VII in 1901.   In addition to the Doulton mark, the plate is marked with its pattern number D4085, which was made from 1919 to 1920.

The plates measure 10" in diameter and 1 ¼" high.  The plates have no cracks, chips or repairs.  One plate does have some crazing.
