A Jewel-Toned Hand-Blown Pilgrim Glass Cranberry Vase
Glowing like garnet in the light, this hand-blown Pilgrim cranberry glass vase brings warmth and color to any shelf or tabletop. Vertical optic ribs catch and reflect the light, while a delicately applied rigaree collar circles the neck like a ribbon of molten glass.
Made by Pilgrim Glass Corporation of West Virginia, the vase showcases the hallmarks collectors love — rich saturated cranberry color, smooth hand-finished form, and a polished pontil. The twisted collar adds just the right touch of craftsmanship and movement, giving the simple silhouette an elegant, decorative flourish. It’s a versatile size for fresh flowers, a small bouquet, or simply displayed on its own where the color can shine.
Pilgrim became especially known for its cranberry glass in the late 20th century. Achieving this deep hue required gold chloride in the batch and careful, labor-intensive handwork, often involving multiple glassmakers — part of what gives authentic Pilgrim cranberry its distinctive depth and glow.
The vase is in wonderful vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs and measures just under 6″ tall with a 2 ½″ rim opening and a neatly inset, polished pontil.
✨ Collector’s Note: Pilgrim cranberry glass remains a favorite among American art glass collectors for its saturated color and traditional hand-blown techniques — pieces with applied rigaree details add an extra touch of craftsmanship and charm.
