Original Acrylic of CATHOLIC NOVICE by ROBERT LEE WALKER Cincinnati Ohio
Out of stock
An original acrylic painting on canvas board by well-regarded Cincinnati, Ohio artist ROBERT LEE WALKER. The painting features a young woman dressed in a purple religious habit with a tall plumed ornamental headdress made of green fernery.
She stands in the middle of a decorated archway, which is framed in rust and gold. Below the young woman is a urn filled with ferns. With several religious communities, especially in the past, a young novice wore a crown of flowers during her final vow ceremony before admittance to her order, so the image may depict a novice sister.
The painting is signed by the artist, R.L. Walker in the lower right corner and professionally framed and presented in a 10¼” by 5 ⅝” wood frame. In addition to being an artist in his own right, Walker owned three art galleries in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio during the 1950’s – 70’s.
The painting is a very good condition. There is a tiny spot of paint missing on the top right corner of the frame, which could easily be repaired with a dab of bronze/gold/copper paint. The back is completely sealed with framer's paper. The original price of $45.00 is penciled in the top right corner.
