Representing a key moment in Victorian decorative arts, this Maw & Company Raised Relief Decorative Tile, England, circa 1860, features delicate blue-green flowers, branches, and leaves in raised relief against an evergreen background.

The tile originates from Maw & Co’s Broseley production phase (post-1852), when the company began experimenting with raised-relief majolica and other decorative techniques—but before their later move to the larger Jackfield works in 1883.

The reverse is impressed with the classic Maw & Company backstamp from their Broseley works. In the center, is "MAW" (inside an emblem). Around the emblem reads: “FLOREAT SALOPIA” (Latin for “May Shropshire flourish” — also the motto of Shropshire). Along the diagonals read: “MAW & CO” and “BROSELEY SALOP” (Broseley, Shropshire).

Despite being over 160 years old, the tile remains in good antique condition with only minor glaze wear and is a rare opportunity to own a piece of decorative history from one of Britain’s most influential ceramic manufacturers.
