This Petalware Monax salver plate by MacBeth‑Evans is a beautiful example of early 20th-century American glass design. Crafted from Monax glass, a softly translucent white material developed by MacBeth-Evans, the plate features the iconic Petalware pie-crust edge and scalloped rim, which catches the light with subtle blue highlights.
Measuring approximately 10½ inches in diameter, this versatile piece was intended as a salver, used for serving food or beverages, though it also functions beautifully as a large dinner plate or decorative serving piece. The gently luminous glass and sculptural rim give it an elegant presence whether displayed or used at the table.
The base is unmarked, which is typical for many authentic Petalware pieces.

MacBeth-Evans Monax: Founded in 1899, MacBeth-Evans initially produced glass for illumination, scientific, and industrial use. In the late 1920s, the company introduced its first dinnerware lines, and in 1933 began using Monax glass, a translucent white material originally developed for light fixtures.
When Corning Glass Works acquired the company in 1937, all MacBeth-Evans dinnerware lines were discontinued except Petalware, cementing its status as the firm’s most enduring and collectible design.
