Hand-Painted Limoges Strawberry Plate, Signed Commoys

Delicate, refined, and beautifully detailed, this antique Limoges porcelain dessert plate showcases the fine artistry that made French porcelain from Limoges world renowned.

Hand-painted with ripe red strawberries, soft green leaves, and tiny white blossoms, the composition feels fresh and natural, with gentle shading and depth that only true hand decoration achieves. A slim band of gold gilt frames the rim, adding an elegant finishing touch.

Produced by Mavaleix, Mandavy & Balleroy (often abbreviated B. MoeM), one of the respected Limoges factories of the early 20th century, the reverse mark FRANCE B. MoeM LIMOGES dates the plate to approximately 1908–1914. The front is also artist-signed Commoys, a lovely and increasingly collectible detail for hand-painted Limoges.

At 7 ½" in diameter, the plate is in excellent antique condition with only minor gilt wear to rim and displays beautifully on a stand, in a cabinet, or layered into an antique tea or dessert service.

🍓 Collector’s Note: Hand-painted Limoges plates like this were often sold as “cabinet plates” in the early 1900s, meant for display rather than everyday use. Artist signatures add both charm and collectibility.
