
Kanawha Glass PEAR-SHAPED Controlled Bubble Design Amber Over Clear Glass Paperweight Circa 1953 - 1987
Beautiful piece of blown art glass from KANAWHA HAND CRAFTED GLASSWARE.
In the shape of a pear and designed with a controlled bubble design amber glass under clear glass with a clear glass stem and leaf, the paperweight is circa 1953 to 1987. The original sticker, Kanawha Hand Crafted Glassware, Dunbar W. VA is attached. It measures 4 ¼” high and is in excellent condition.
About Kanawha Glass: Former employees of the Dunbar Glass Co. formed the Kanawha Glass Company in 1955 after Dunbar closed in 1953. The new company was located in West Virginia and named after the Kanawha River.
Kanawha competed with Blenko, Rainbow, Pilgrim, Viking and other popular mid-20th century glass makers producing colorful stylized retro mod forms. Kanawha was purchased by another glass company in 1987 and closed its doors forever in 1989.
