Author Biography

John Hedgecoe was a professor of photography at the Royal College of Art in London.  In addition to his long and distinguished career as a photography teacher, his classic books, including the Photographer’s Handbook and The Book of Photography, have formed the basis of photography courses throughout the world. Hedgecoe’s own photography has appeared in countless newspapers and magazines and are on permanent display in major collections in New York and London.

Just a quick heads‑up: the photos reveal details far better than text alone, so they’re worth a close review.

We share as much accurate information as possible about each item—from provenance to condition—but the images often show the nuances best. If you ever need more details, we’re always happy to help.
