1945 Technicolor Film Edition Featuring Betty Grable

Collector’s Note

Film tie-in editions of music from Hollywood’s Golden Age — especially those featuring Betty Grable — are increasingly sought after by collectors of classic cinema, Broadway memorabilia, and mid-century decor.

Originally introduced in 1918, I’m Always Chasing Rainbows became one of the most beloved songs of the vaudeville era. This edition was issued in 1945 in conjunction with the Technicolor film The Dolly Sisters, starring Betty Grable and June Haver.

The melody, credited to Harry Carroll, is famously adapted from Frédéric Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu, with lyrics by Joseph McCarthy. The song was first introduced on Broadway by the Hungarian American Dolly Sisters in the 1918 musical Oh, Look!

This Miller Music Corporation edition was published by arrangement with Robbins Music to coincide with the 1945 film release. Measuring 9 ½" x 12 ¼", the sheet music is in good condition, with small edge and corner tears but remains highly displayable. Housed in a protective sleeve.

Framing Appeal

This bold orange Art-Deco inspired theatrical cover featuring Betty Grable and June Haver in dramatic feathered headdresses and hourglass stage costumes, makes this one especially eye-catching when framed.
