Real photo postcard, "West End Pier, Great Bridge Wrecked by Flood" depicting flood damage in Hamilton, Ohio from the Great Flood of 1913.
On March 25, 1913, the citizens of the Hamilton experienced a natural disaster unparalleled in the region’s history. Within a three-day period, nine to 11 inches of rain fell causing the Great Miami River and its streams to overflow. By 2:15 a.m. the next morning, all four of Hamilton’s bridges had washed away. Some 300 buildings were destroyed by the flood waters and more than 200 people died.
