1936 Patriotic March Collection with Striking Art Deco Band Cover

Collector’s Note

This vintage piece featuring timeless patriotic favorites stands out as a collectible gem. It's true appeal for collectors, however, lies in the striking cover illustration by Ben "Jorj" Harris, whose bold, airbrushed Art Deco style has made his work highly sought-after in illustration circles.

Published in 1936 by Leo Feist of New York, this Feist Collection of World Famous Marches gathers 15 internationally recognized marches into one substantial 56-page volume for piano solo with guitar chords. This compilation represents Feist’s continued influence in popular and patriotic music publishing during the Big Band era. Many of these marches were originally issued individually beginning in the early 1900s, including Holzmann’s Blaze Away (1901). Other beloved standards include:

  • Over There
  • Down the Field
  • Yale Boola
  • Blaze Away
  • Yankee Doodle
  • Wing and Wing
…and others (see contents page in photos).

The dramatic cover illustration—rendered by artist Jorj Harris in his signature airbrushed watercolor technique—features silhouetted marching band members set against bold fields of navy blue and vibrant red orange. The strong graphic design and Art Deco styling make this an exceptional display piece for framing.

Very good vintage condition. Clean interior, strong color saturation on the cover. Measures 9" by 11" and contains 56 pages.

Framing Appeal

Graphic march collections featuring striking Art Deco patriotic cover art—like this bold, airbrushed masterpiece by Jorj Harris—are increasingly framed as standout wall décor, perfectly complementing mid-century modern interiors with their sleek lines, dramatic silhouettes, and retro glamour that add historical energy and vintage flair to any room.

Just a quick heads‑up: the photos reveal details far better than text alone, so they’re worth a close review.

Why Collect Vintage Sheet Music

Collecting old sheet music invites you into a world where history, art, and melody intertwine. Each piece is more than printed notation—it's a preserved moment in time. For music lovers, history buffs, and creative minds alike, building a collection offers both personal satisfaction and the possibility of uncovering items of real value.

From classical masterpieces to the spirited energy of the Jazz Age, vintage sheet music reflects how music shaped culture across generations. First editions of composers like Chopin or Gershwin are especially coveted, treasured for their historical and monetary worth. As Smithsonian Magazine notes, these artifacts provide a vivid window into America’s musical and cultural evolution.

Collectors often cherish sheet music not only for its sound but for its striking cover art. Displayed as décor, it brings warmth and character to any room. Others breathe new life into old pages through creative projects—turning them into artwork, journals, or crafts that merge nostalgia with personal style.
