Everything’s Coming Up Roses | Bold Marquee Red Sheet Music Cover from Gypsy

Collector’s Note

Broadway vocal selections from major productions are consistently collectible, and Gypsy is widely regarded as one of the great American musicals. The cover design—graphic red-and-white marquee styling with theatrical stage illustration—makes it especially appealing for collectors who frame sheet music as décor.

From the golden age of Broadway, this vintage 1959 sheet music for Everything’s Coming Up Roses captures the showstopping energy of Gypsy: A Musical Fable—forever associated with Ethel Merman (1908 - 1984) and her legendary original production performance. Written by composer Jule Styne with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, this iconic number debuted with Gypsy when it opened at the Broadway Theatre in 1959.

This original issue was published by Williamson Music & Stratford Music, with Chappell & Co. (Rockefeller Center, New York) listed as the sole selling agent. Very good vintage condition with no tears. Red ink printer stamp “Maggie Tusk” on the front (likely a previous owner). Short handwritten note on page 7. Stored in a protective sleeve and measures 9" by 12".

Framing Appeal

A strong piece for Broadway enthusiasts, vocalists, pianists, and anyone building a vintage theatre wall gallery. Displays beautifully thanks to the bold marquee-style cover.

As Smithsonian Magazine notes, these artifacts provide a vivid window into America’s musical and cultural evolution.
