About Zanesville Glass: During the early 19th century, Zanesville, incorporated in 1814, was a small town surrounded by forests and abundant natural resources like sand, potash, and lime. This was an ideal location for glassmaking and the first organized glassworks, White Glass Works, was established a year later. Others, like Zanesville Glass Works followed. Up until the 1870s, the skilled glassmakers in Zanesville were known for producing a variety of glass products, including window glass, flasks, decanters, sugar bowls, pitchers, pans, bowls, salts, flips, tumblers, vases, and more.
