COFFEE CAN WREN HOUSE Scarlet & Gray Circa 1950 GO BUCKEYES!
Featuring a vintage handcrafted WREN HOUSE made from a one-pound coffee can. The birdhouse is painted in the iconic Ohio State University colors of scarlet and gray. It is difficult to determine the trademark on the can but you can somewhat see the words, roasted fresh, peeking through.
The birdhouse is in good vintage condition but there is a dent in the metal on the roof. Since it was not used outdoors, the interior is clean other than a spider web or two.
The scarlet red coffee can base measures approximately 5” across by 3 ¼” high. With the conical gray roof, the entire birdhouse measures about 7” across by 5” high. The perch is designed using a small dowel stick.
I would not recommend the bird house for anything other than decorating, not only because its vintage, but because the entrance hole is only about ⅞” wide, which is barely large enough for a small house wren. However, it would be a great décor piece—especially for your nature lover or with the scarlet and gray, a gift for your favorite Ohio State University fan!
