Hull Pottery Company debuted its popular House 'n Garden line in 1960 when it changed its focus to casual dinnerware. Originally, the line was produced only in Mirror Brown, often referred to as brown drip. Later, tangerine, green agate, butterscotch were added.

The extra large 13 ⅝” wide SERVER WITH CHICKEN COVER in Mirror Brown is difficult to find as a set today. Possibly because Hull offered the Server (#557) and the Cover (#575) separately or as a set. There was also the option to choose an Open Baker (#558) with the Cover.

The Chicken Cover sits loosely on the Server and is in the shape of a nesting chicken. It measures 13” x 10” and when placed on top of the platter, raising the height of the set to 10” high. The high gloss finish is a deep chestnut brown. The Cover is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are no trademarks on the Cover.

The Chicken Server is a deep platter and measures 13 ⅝” by 10 ½” by 2”. Recessed in the center vertically, is a large stamped modernist retro drawing of a chicken with exaggerated tail feathers.

Note: Hull also made a Rooster Platter and used a similar drawing, but the drawing was centered horizontal.

Stamped on the bottom of the Server is Hull’s House and Garden trademark, a lower case “hull” with a copyright symbol with the words, Oven Proof U.S.A. in script. Finished with a high gloss chestnut brown finish with ivory foam decorated rim. The Server is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.

Shipping Note:
An invoice for shipping costs will be emailed separately as the set requires a non-standard oversize box. Payment must be paid prior to shipment.
