Pre-Prohibition Cincinnati Breweriana – Bruckmann Embossed Amber Bottle

This embossed amber glass beer bottle was produced for Bruckmann Brewing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, likely between 1911 and 1920 — during the height of the city’s pre-Prohibition brewing era and during a period when Cincinnati ranked among the largest brewing centers in the United States.

Condition is excellent with no chips or cracks. The interior remains very clean, making this a strong example for collectors of Cincinnati breweriana and early American beer bottles. Standing approximately 9 ⅜” tall with a 2 ⅝” base diameter, this classic amber beer bottle features clean shoulder embossing reading:

BRUCKMANN
CINCINNATI

Both sides display mold seams running from base to shoulder, consistent with early 20th-century machine production. The base is unmarked. The heel is embossed:

CONTENTS 11 FLU. OZ.

Note: Historic bottles should not be used for food or beverage storage.

Collector’s Note

Founded in 1856, Bruckmann Brewing Company was one of Cincinnati’s prominent pre-Prohibition breweries and among the few to survive by producing near-beer during national Prohibition. Embossed brewery bottles from the 1910s are increasingly sought after by collectors of Ohio breweriana and early American glass packaging.

This example represents the city’s once-thriving brewing industry and pairs especially well with other Bruckmann advertising pieces from the era.

Songs of Long Ago, a songbook produced by Bruck's Jubilee Beer is available in here.
