Seven (7) Certificate of Registration Cards
These seven consecutive annual cards (1953–1959) feature colorful period artwork on the reverse, including illustrations by Norman Rockwell and Paul Baker Remmey. Long runs of registration cards are increasingly difficult to find, as they were often discarded.

Historical Context
During the 1950s, Boy Scouts of America was at the height of its influence, with millions of boys participating nationwide. Advancement cards, merit badge cards, and registration certificates served as official documentation of progress. Unlike merit badge patches, which were sewn to uniforms and often lost, these pocket-sized cards were frequently retained by Scouts and families as personal records of achievement.
Complete groups documenting a Scout’s advancement from Cub Scout through Eagle Scout are considerably scarcer than individual cards found on the market today.
Condition
Overall condition of the collection ranges from good to very good vintage ephemera condition.
The Advancement Cards are in very good condition overall, with light age toning and minor handling wear. The Merit Badge Cards are in generally very good condition, with clean fronts, strong color, and legible entries.
The Certificate of Registration Cards vary from good to very good, with the older examples showing expected pocket and wallet wear, moderate edge wear, and age toning. All cards are original period pieces with no modern reproductions or repairs. Please review the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
Provenance and Research Notes
The cards belonged to Ronald Garver Gump (1945–1973) of Montgomery County, Ohio. The archive was acquired together with other Gump family materials, including a family genealogy volume (available in a separate listing). The cards appear to have remained within the family for decades and survive today as a single, intact group.
This collection documents Ronnie’s progression through Cub Scout Pack 44, Trotwood, Ohio, and later Boy Scout Troop 41, Trotwood, Ohio, under the jurisdiction of the Miami Valley Council. The preservation of the entire group provides a rare and unusually complete record of one Scout’s advancement from Cub Scout through Eagle Scout.
