Reticulated Strawberry Porcelain Cabinet Plate with Gilt Detail

Delicate and decorative, this antique porcelain dessert plate features a beautifully pierced (reticulated) rim and hand-painted strawberry motif that feels straight out of the late Victorian–Art Nouveau period.

At the center, ripe red strawberries and soft green leaves are painted with gentle shading and fine detail. The openwork border forms a basket-weave lattice accented with light blue trim, while embossed leaves around the rim are highlighted in gold gilt, adding subtle elegance and dimension.

The porcelain body is notably translucent when held to the light — a hallmark of quality antique china — making the plate equally lovely displayed on a stand, hung on a wall, or used as a small dessert or bonbon dish.

The reverse bears hand-painted numbers 05043, typical of early decorator or pattern identifiers. No factory hallmark is present. The plate is in excellent vintage condition, minor gilt wear only

🍓 Collector’s Note: Reticulated “cabinet plates” were popular around the turn of the 20th century and were meant for display rather than everyday use. Their pierced rims and delicate porcelain bodies showcased a factory’s skill and added elegance to parlor china cabinets.
