Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey — Betty Grable in Technicolor Coney Island
Originally composed in 1910 by Albert Von Tilzer and Junie McCree, this 1943 film edition was released in conjunction with the 20th Century-Fox musical “Coney Island” starring Betty Grable. The vibrant fuchsia cover reflects Hollywood’s Technicolor musical revival during the Big Band Era.
Vintage 1943 sheet music for Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey, words by Junie McCree and music by Albert Von Tilzer, published by Broadway Music Corporation, New York.
First introduced in 1910 during the Ragtime period, the song enjoyed renewed popularity when performed by Betty Grable in the 20th Century-Fox musical Coney Island. The film also featured George Montgomery, Cesar Romero, and Phil Silvers. The song was also recorded by Dick Kuhn and his Orchestra on the Decca label.
This edition’s bold cover design showcases a monochromatic image of Grable in sequined showgirl costume against a dramatic fuchsia background accented with musical notes and a rollercoaster motif — a visual nod to the nostalgic amusement-park setting of the film. Additional headshots of Montgomery and Romero appear on the cover. The artwork is signed “Manning,” possibly Frederick Stewart Manning, though full attribution remains uncertain.
Very good condition. Previous owner’s name penned at the top right of the front cover; no creasing or tears; colors bright and vibrant. Protective sleeve included.
The bold fuchsia background and glamorous showgirl imagery create a striking mid-century Hollywood display piece. Beautiful matted in black or ivory and framed in slim black or chrome — ideal for film buffs, music rooms, or vintage cinema collections.
