Romantic Classic “Liebestraum” by Franz Liszt — Deluxe Floral Edition in Warm Terracotta

Collector’s Note

Originally composed in 1850 during the Romantic Period, Liebestraum (“Dream of Love”) remains one of Franz Liszt’s most beloved piano works. This 1936 deluxe edition, arranged by Moissaye Boguslawski, beautifully preserves the lyrical elegance and enduring appeal of this classical masterpiece.

Liebestraum, German for "Dream of Love," is a set of three solo piano nocturnes composed in 1850 by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. Inspired by poems by Ludwig Uhland and Ferdinand Freiligrath, the three pieces explore spiritual, romantic, and mature love.

This 1936 deluxe edition was published by M.M. Cole Publishing Company of Chicago and contains six pages of music (not including the cover). The piano solo has been arranged and edited by Moissaye Boguslawski, an accomplished American pianist and educator known for making classical repertoire accessible to home pianists.

The cover features a watercolor-style floral design in muted terracotta tones, lending warmth and elegance. The palette and stylized florals reflect 1930s design sensibilities whil honoring the Romatic character of the composition. Condition of the 9" x 12" piece is excellent with no tears, browning, or pencil marks. Archival-grade protective sleeve included.

Liszt, a child prodigy who gave his first concert at age nine, became one of the most celebrated composers and virtuosos of the 19th century. His influence spanned six decades and shaped the Romantic piano repertoire.

Framing Appeal

The muted terracotta floral border and elegant script typography create a warm Romantic aesthetic. Beautiful matted in ivory or soft cream with a classic wood or gold frame, this piece would complement a music room, piano studio, library, or refined gallery wall.
