Love, Here is My Heart — Oversized Belle Époque Edition with Cress Woollett Illustration

Collector’s Note

Published in 1915 by Ascherberg, Hopwood & Crew of London, this bilingual edition (“Mon Cœur Est Pour Toi”) was famously recorded by tenor John McCormack on Victor Records. The uncut oversized format and Cress Woollett illustration make it especially desirable for decorative display.

Original 1915 sheet music for Love, Here is My Heart (Mon Cœur Est Pour Toi), music by Italian composer Lao Silésu with lyrics by Adrian Ross, one of Britain’s most prolific musical comedy lyricists. The song was famously recorded in 1916 by renowned Irish tenor John McCormack, whose Victor Records performances helped popularize the song internationally.

Issued jointly by the London publisher Ascherberg, Hopwood & Crew and the New York distributor Leo Feist, the edition appears in both English and French—a reflection of the early twentieth century’s increasingly transnational circulation of popular music.

Cover artwork by Cress Woollett, an early 20th-century illustrator known for her soft pastel palette and graceful floral compositions. The romantic Edwardian-style female figure framed by blooming lilacs exemplifies the sentimental Belle Époque aesthetic.

The oversized, 10 ½" x 13 ¾", uncut format enhances its visual presence. Condition is very good. Slight curling at corners and minor age-related paper wear. Front and back covers detached at fold, but visually strong.  Protective sleeve included.

Framing Appeal

The soft lilac florals, flowing Edwardian gown, and generous oversized proportions create a romantic statement piece. Beautiful matted in ivory or pale sage with an antique gold or carved wood frame — ideal for a bedroom, sitting room, or refined gallery wall.

Would be a wonderful companion piece framed beside the sheet music cover, Up in a Swing available here.
