Richard Howard composed and wrote "WHEN THE LEAVES COME TUMBLING DOWN, A Ballad in Fox Trot Rhythm". Leo Feist published the sheet music in 1922, and it was recorded by the Clyde Doerr Orchestra on the Victor label in the same year, quickly gaining popularity as one of the top songs of the year.

Richard Howard, an American songwriter born in 1890, served as a yeoman in the U.S. Navy during WWI before pursuing a career in vaudeville. With a repertoire of almost 150 songs, he is best known for "Somebody Else Is Taking My Place," a title that is engraved on his tombstone. Additionally, one of his famous works is "I Believe In The Man In The Sky," famously performed by Elvis Presley.

This voice and piano sheet music is in good condition and includes a protective sleeve. The cover features an illustration of a young woman, tree branch, and falling leaves, with the original owner's name penciled on the front. Inside, you can find excerpts from "Three O'Clock in the Morning", "Lovely Lucerne", and "Swanee River", while the back cover advertises other music published by Leo Feist.
