EVESHAM GOLD Porcelain Butter Tub or Sugar Bowl with Lid with Fruit Sprays
Royal Worcester introduced its Evesham china pattern in 1961 at the beginning of a new trend towards more informal and casual dining that would bring the humble casserole dish from the kitchen to the dining table. Named after the fruit-growing region near Worcester, Evesham was Royal Worcester’s best-selling brand of the late 20th century.
This white fine porcelain BUTTER TUB or SUGAR BOWL WITH LID by Royal Worcester in the Evesham Gold pattern stands 2 ½” high not including the lid, by 4 ½” wide, and is decorated with gorgeous fruit sprays—peaches, cherries and plums. Its distinctive lid, topped with a corn-shaped finial features sprays of currants, blackberries and an apricot.
The bottom of the dish is stamped with the classic Royal Worcester mark incorporating the number 51 signifying the year the company was founded (1751) inside a crescent within a larger circle, with the crown attached above. The mark does not incorporate a date.
Both the dish and lid are in excellent condition with no chips, staining, cracks or crazing.
