Coca Cola advertising!

PAUSE for Living was a quarterly publication distributed by The Coca Cola Company and offered the reader ideas for “gracious living." The publication's title utilized the company's popular "Pause" slogan. Booklets were targeted to women through women's clubs, garden clubs, beauty salons and similar groups and intended to let women know that Coca-Cola was the perfect drink to offer when entertaining friends and family.

Each 24-page softcover issue is filled seasonal decorating and entertaining ideas with colorful photographs and vintage illustrations. Many features continue through the multiple booklets as a series, like "how to decorate with collectibles" and "easy-to-do flowering decorating."

Booklets measure 8" high by 5 ½” wide and are in good vintage condition with the cattle stitched covers attached. Some booklets do have staining on the back covers.

The final issue of PAUSE for Living was published in Winter 1969 and included an insert with farewell letter from Coca Cola signed by James Williams, a Vice President at the time.

Great gift idea for your vintage decorating, advertising or Coca Cola collector or imagine several framed together to decorate the walls in your retro kitchen or living area!

More About PAUSE for Living: Coca Cola Bottlers published its first issue of PAUSE for Living in the Autumn of 1954 and included the editorial statement, "We hope to bring you pleasure, relaxation, and lots of fun with every issue of PAUSE for Living." The free publication continued for more than 15 years, ending with the Winter 1969-70 issue due to rising costs to produce and distribute. The editorial offices were located in Chicago, Illinois where many of the staff, including the editor, Neva Bowling Straus staying with the publication throughout its history.

Thank you for visiting THE TOWNHOUSE ANTIQUES & VINTAGE

We strive to provide you the best in antique, collectibles and vintage items and do our best to provide you within the written description as much information, whether it’s the history, manufacturer or condition, for each item we sell.

However, we also recognize that a “picture is worth a thousand words” and ask that you view the photos we provide as well. Often, a photo can be more effective than a written description when determining if an item will meet your needs and satisfaction.
