MIRACLES WITH MINUTE TAPIOCA is a softcover vintage recipe booklet compiled by Frances Barton and published in 1948 by General Foods Corporation using Minute Tapioca. The recipe booklet is a great example of mid-century American retail advertising when store, food products, and new appliance promotions included branded cookbooks, recipe pamphlets and booklets as give-aways.

Each recipe section begins with the opening, Frances Barton says...The MIRACLE is...and then Frances goes on to provide a description.  For example:

Francis Barton says: The MIRACLE is--plenty of luscious juice kept where it belongs by Minute Tapioca magic.

Francis Barton says: The MIRACLE is--the oh-so-fluffy, moist, and wonderful texture that stays up for serving!

Sections include Minute Tapioca Creams, Pies and Tarts, Fruit Tapiocas, Baked Puddings, Savory Soups, Soufflés and Omelet, Meat Loaves, Casseroles. The 22-page softcover book is filled with recipes highlighted by colorful and black/white photographs and measures 8 ¼” high by 5 ¼” wide. It is in good condition and appears to be unused. The initials JM are written on the cover's top left corner.

Frances Lee Barton was the advisor for General Foods. She was featured in magazine ads for Calumet Baking Powder and Swans Down Cake Flour during the 1930's. Her daytime program was on the air from 1932-1935 on NBC's Red Network. After the program went off the air, Ms. Barton continued her recommendations and recipes for different General Foods products in magazine ads into the 1950's.

Thank you for visiting THE TOWNHOUSE ANTIQUES & VINTAGE

We strive to provide you the best in antique, collectibles and vintage items and do our best to provide you within the written description as much information, whether it’s the history, manufacturer or condition, for each item we sell.
