Black and white real photo postcard, "Bad Dürkheim a.d. Weinstraße Josef Bürckel Jugendherberge" depicting a youth hostel located near the Bad Dürkheim wine trail in Germany.
The youth hostel was named after Josef Bürckel, a trained teacher turned politician working for the German Reich. Based on Bürckel's role with the party and his actions, including anti-Jewish decrees and seizing Jewish property, historians have labeled him as a war criminal.
The initials E.H.M run are printed in the divided back line so the postcard may have been published by Emil Hartmann of Mannheim. The postage box imprinted with 123397 M/1320.
