Compiled as a cookbook of best-loved family recipes, FROM WILMA'S KITCHEN was authored by Wilma M. Linville of Greensburg, Indiana. Published in 1979, the 445-page cookbook contains well over 500 delicious and simple recipes* organized in eight sections:

  1. Appetizers, Pickles & Relishes
  2. Soups & Salads
  3. Vegetables
  4. Main Dishes
  5. Cakes, Cookies & Desserts
  6. Breads, Rolls & Pastry
  7. Beverages & Miscellaneous
  8. Candy, Jelly & Preserves

The comb-bound book is in near mint condition, measures 8 ½” by 5 ½” and is a copy from the book's second printing in 1985. It no longer in print and extremely difficult to find.

The recipe collection is structured like a "community cookbook", of which, many times were self-published for women by women. Community cookbooks provide unexpected insight into the aspects of American culture and public history at a given time in history and give the reader a snapshot of historical details not documented elsewhere.  They have become unofficial records of the past, and for some cookbook collectors and culinary scholars, the historical value far outweighs the recipes inside.

Thank you for visiting THE TOWNHOUSE ANTIQUES & VINTAGE

We strive to provide you the best in antique, collectibles and vintage items and do our best to provide you within the written description as much information, whether it’s the history, manufacturer or condition, for each item we sell.

However, we also recognize that a “picture is worth a thousand words” and ask that you view the photos we provide as well. Often, a photo can be more effective than a written description when determining if an item will meet your needs and satisfaction.
