FENTON CRANBERRY GLASS Pitcher with Embossed Fern Design and Reed Design Handle Circa 1980

Regular price $48.00 $0.00

Availability: 1

Wonderful piece of vintage hand blown country cranberry glass by the FENTON ART GLASS COMPANY. The piece is in the shape of a small MILK PITCHER or syrup pitcher. The piece is advertised in the January 1982 catalog on page 2 as the 16-Ounce FERN PITCHER; 1866 CC. However, it does not hold quite 16 ounces unless the liquid is taken nearly to the top. A photo of the catalog page is shown.

The pitcher is beautiful with a embossed fern design throughout the raised ribs. The curved handle is clear glass in the reed pattern. The reeds are distinctive and spaced close together so the light shows through. The rim of the pitcher is delicately crimped.

Including the handle, it stands about 5 ½” tall and is about 4 ¼” wide including the handle.

The Fenton logo mark and the number 8 is embossed on the bottom of the jug.

The piece is in excellent condition and has no chips, cracks or repairs. Would be a perfect addition to a collector's Fenton or cranberry glass collection.

Fenton Cranberry Glass

All Fenton Cranberry pieces contain pure gold. It is the gold that reacts to the extreme heat to form the beautiful cranberry color. All Fenton cranberry glass is blown by mouth and not pressed. In some cases, a piece can take up to 25 glassworkers to produce. The making of cranberry glass is more than the art of blowing glass--the glassworkers must have the knowledge to craft the special gold chloride formula that is added to the molten glass.
