DIVINELY DELICIOUS is a regional cookbook created by the Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church located in the Village of Indian Hill, a suburb outside Cincinnati, Ohio. The cookbook was released in October 1984.

The 284-page cookbook is filled with "divinely delicious" recipes like Kuhlua Dip, Mexican Layered Dip, Sesame Cheese Sticks, Cheese Wafers, Sangria, Stacked-Up Potato Salad, Tabuli, Clam Chowder, Applesauce Meat Loaf, King Ranch Chicken, Bagels, Nite Before French Toast, Corn Bread, Highland Shortbread, Potato Doughnuts, Potato Pancakes, Apple Cake, Sister Edwina's Apple Pie, Derby Pie, Shaker Lemon Pie, Buckeyes, Peanut Brittle, Apple Butter, and many more!

It is a great example of a "community cookbook,' which were often published for women by women. However, this cookbook does includes submissions by men. These cookbooks provide unexpected insights into aspects of American culture and public history at a given time in history.  They give the reader a snapshot of historical details not documented elsewhere and have become unofficial records of the past.  For some cookbook collectors and culinary scholars, their historical value far outweighs the recipes inside.

Most community cookbooks were created as a charity or community fundraiser. This book was a fundraiser for the Old Armstrong Chapel's music department. Proceeds helped fund the vocal and handbell choirs' 1985 concert tour in the United Kingdom.

The 294-page plastic comb-bound cookbook is in very good condition. It measures 9" high by 6 ¼” wide without the plastic comb.

We strive to provide you the best in antique, collectibles and vintage items and do our best to provide you within the written description as much information, whether it’s the history, manufacturer or condition, for each item we sell.
