DESSERT MAGIC Vintage JELL-O Recipe Booklet ©1944

DESSERT MAGIC is a softcover vintage recipe booklet published by General Foods Corporation in 1944. The recipe booklet is a great example of mid-century American retail advertising when store, food products, and new appliance promotions included branded cookbooks, recipe pamphlets and booklets as give-aways. 

The recipe booklet features dessert recipes made with Jello-O and Jello-O Puddings and is designed for simple lesson use. Recipes include St. Valentine's Hearts, Jell-O Jack-O'-Lanterns, Frosty Lime Whip, Fruit Fluff, Raspberry Charlotte, Cherry Bavarian Pie, Jell-O Plum Pudding and Hostess Salad. There are sections on making layers and designs in molds, how-to whip Jell-O, garnishing suggestions and party ideas.  Final pages provide facts on the products--how they are made and nutritional information.

The 28-page booklet is filled with black/white illustrations and photographs.  It measures 8 ¼” high by 5 ½” wide and is very good condition with no tears and appears to be unused. The initials JM are written on the cover's top left corner.
